AMD, Founder to Bring Processors to China

NEW YORK - Semiconductor firm Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) announced on Thursday that they are teaming up with a China's second largest PC provider, providing processors to the company's whole line of offerings.

Founder, China's largest PC provider behind Lenovo, and the worlds seventh largest overall, expects to launch desktop PCs based on AMD's AMD64 processors throughout China in early October 2006.

"Through this strategic agreement," Karen Guo, AMD president of AMD China said, "we can continue increasing innovation and customer choice by providing compelling options that help contribute to the healthy, robust development of the information technology industry in China."

According to IDC, Founder sold 2.5 million PCs in 2005.
