Google Launches Online Literary Project

NEW YORK - Google launched a new program to promote literacy by harnessing the power of the internet, aggregating books maps, blogs and video together to assist teachers and educators.

The new system was launched on Wednesday t the Frankfurt Book Fair, the world's largest gathering of publishing executives, in conjunction with the United Nations and a literacy campaign organized by fair officials.

"Google believes that the Internet can be a powerful tool in connecting the organizations leading this fight," the company said in a statement, referring to illiteracy. "The more people that have access to reading tools, project ideas, and resources, the further we will go in combating this problem,"
