HK shares record new high in six years

Hong Kong shares yestoday rose 22 pcts to close at 17,629, recording a new high point in six year for 5 consecutive increasing days; while the market value of HK shares aslo broke the historic record, climbing to HK$10,680 billion, driven by the advantaged external market and the flowing hot money.

Brokers in market said among the HK$40 billion turnover yestoday, 20 billion attributed to the trading of index futures; warrants deal also played an important role in market.

U.S Dow average industial index reached to a new high point Tuesday, which drove Asia-Pacific stocks markets upward universally. HSI yestoday opened at a high point following external market, and rushed to 17,687 again and again; Japan stocks turn to drop from rising after opening afternoon, which dragged HSI declined 70 pcts; near the closing, the index rallied and closed at 17,629, up 22 pcts, turnover of HK$43.2 billion.

Esprit, BOC(HK) and Li&Fung's price achieved a new high after listing, closed at 72.75, 17.82 and 20 yuan respectively.

Besides, Airport shares made a good perfomance due to the declining oil price. Airchina recorded a new high by rising 2.5%, Cathay Pacific aslo reached to a new peak in 2 year by climbing 1.2%. However, oil and related shares weaken, Shanghai PetroChina and Yizheng dropped 7.8% and 9.2% respectively, CNOOC fell 3.5%.

SUNDAY privatized by its control shareholder PCCW jumped 19%; new share Shui On Land closed at 5.9 yuan, up 10%; Lee Kee closed at 2.88 yuan, up 7.9%.
