The ninth generation PowerEdge and Precision branded servers and workstations have been redesigned to include Intel (INTC) Quad-Core Xeon processors, making Dell the first company to use the processors.
Dell's new servers outperform dual-core solutions by up to 63 percent, with up to 40 percent performance improvement per watt. Workstations will run up to 54 percent faster.
The Dell PowerEdge blade servers featuring Intel 5300 series quad-core Xeon processors are available worldwide, with prices starting at $1,599.
Shares of the computer maker fell $0.38, or 1.5 percent to close at $24.18 on Wednesday.
