Halloween Boosts Internet Traffic for October

Halloween was a significant driver of Internet traffic for October, inspiring strong growth in visits to online greetings and costume seller sites, a new report indicates.

The month of October spurred a 21 percent rise in traffic to e-cards sites, while toy sites rose by 13 percent, Internet information provider comScore reported.

American Greetings Property led the e-card category with 12.6 million visitors, rising a powerful 66 percent for the month. Evite.com saw an 11 percent rise at Evite.com which reached a total of 6.6 million visitors.

Mattel sites led the toy sites with 9.8 million visitors, a 22-percent increase. Meanwhile, Toys ‘R’ Us Sites had 8 million visitors, a 29-percent increase.

Several sites geared towards kids and families also saw increases in October, including Disney Online with 25.1 million visitors, an 8-percent increase. The Nickelodeon Network saw its traffic increase by 9 percent, reaching 12.6 million visitors.
