Intel Corporation, the world's largest chip maker, unveiled 16 products in International CES 2008 on Monday, including the company's first 45 nanometer (nm) processors chip for laptops.
Among the 16 new products, 12 are for laptops and desktops and 4 Intel Xeon processors for servers and workstations.
Building on its November 2007 introduction (the Intel Core2 Extreme quad-core processor), Intel announced 3 quad-core and 4 dual-core 45nm-based processors for desktop PCs.
Intel said the new chips will boost a PC's speed, reduces power requirements and saves on battery life suitable to consumer including hard-core gamer and high-definition enthusiast.
The processors are up to 25 percent smaller than previous versions so computer makers can create sleeker notebooks, said said Mooly Eden, vice president and general manager, mobile platforms group, Intel.
The processors are the foundation for the company's popular Intel Centrino technology for laptops, and deliver improved content and video capabilities with HD DVD and Blu-Ray.
Shares of Intel Corporation rose 1.20 percent, or $0.28, to $22.95 in the Nasdaq index.
