Panasonic Goes Green

"We removed lead elements from all our products in an effort to make the whole world environmentally friendly," said Toshihiro Sakamoto, President of Panasonic AVC Networks. "We are making products that can easily be recycled."

Sakamoto said Panasonic is aiming at being 30 percent energy efficient by the end of this year from its current 16 percent.

In 2007, Panasonic recorded 300,000 ton reduction to carbon emissions and this figure is forecasted to increase as the firm focuses much on environmental protection.

Panasonic provides cost effective recycling services to manufacturers, state and local service providers, and it is collaborating with other companies such as Hitachi, Phillips and Sanyo in an effort to create a green environment.

Sakamoto revealed that the firm will continue to make products that have a less energy consumption and high energy efficiency in an effort to conserve energy, by citing the new plasma HD screens that have high efficiency and low energy consumption.
