GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Exactech Inc., which makes implantable orthopedic products, on Wednesday predicted higher fourth-quarter profit and sales and raised its 2008 forecast.

The company predicted fourth-quarter net income of $2.6 million to $2.9 million, or 22 to 24 cents per share, up from $2.3 million, or 19 cents per share, in profit during the same period last year.
Exactech forecast revenue of $33.1 million, compared with $26.2 million a year ago.
Citing "momentum in our domestic sales growth," the company said it expects to earn 88 to 94 cents per share this year on revenue of $146 million to $158 million. The company previously forecast earnings of 86 to 92 cents per share and revenue of $148 million to $156 million.
For the first quarter, Exactech predicted earnings of 18 to 20 cents per share on revenue of $36 million to $38 million.
Exactech shares rose $1.24, or 5.7 percent, to $22.99 in early trading.
