NEW YORK - WL Ross & Co., led by billionaire investor Wilbur Ross, said Monday John Kanas has joined the firm as a senior adviser to help the company identify, restructure and manage investments in distressed financial services institutions.
Aside from working as an adviser, Kanas will also invest in the restructurings with WL Ross.
Kanas previously served as chief executive of North Fork Bank, before it was purchased by Capital One Financial Corp. in 2006. Kanas will continue as an adviser for Capital One Financial as well.
WL Ross is a part of Invesco Ltd. Shares of Invesco fell 59 cents, or 2.3 percent, to $25.05 in morning trading. Shares have traded between $20.35 and $32.25 during the past year.
