NEW YORK - Canadian pipeline owner Enbridge Inc. said Wednesday it is considering strategic alternatives for its investment in Compania Logistica de Hidrocarburos, including the possible sale of its 25 percent stake in the Spanish petroleum distributor.

"Recent transactions in the marketplace have highlighted the significant untapped value in our investment which we believe can best be redeployed to support our other priority growth initiatives," said Enbridge President and Chief Executive Patrick D. Daniel in a statement.
Enbridge acquired the stake in 2002.
Proceeds from any possible sale would fund Enbridge's North American crude oil pipeline expansion projects, the company said.
