Paulson trying to get people to file taxes promptly

15 February 2008 @ 11:57 am EST

WASHINGTON - U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson on Thursday said there will be a big effort to get Americans to file their taxes promptly so that they can qualify for rebates under the new U.S. economic stimulus plan.

"There's going to be a huge effort getting those people who normally don't file to file and to file as soon as possible," Paulson told the Senate Banking Committee. "In addition to the IRS Web site, there is going to be a big outreach effort and we're going to go to a number of agencies and we're going to go to members of Congress."
