Sony's Video Game President to Leave Company

SAN FRANCISCO - Sony Corp. revealed on Monday that the president of Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios, a game software development arm of Sony's videogame division will resign on the last day of February.

The firm said Kazuo Hirai, Chief Executive of Sony's game operations, Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE), will take-up Phil Harrison's responsibilities.

Harrison worked with Sony for 15 years and helped the firm to handle many challenges in the video game industry.

Sony still has a big challenge to create strong game software since its PlayStation 3 game console was out-competed by Nintendo Co Ltd's Wii in sales due to high prices and scarcity of other game titles on high demand.

The challenge for Hirai will be to lead Sony's video game industry to a high level in the video game business if it is to better compete in the stiff video game market.
