McLEAN, Va. (AP) - An investment group led by the founders of iMapData Inc., a consulting firm specializing in analyzing geo-spatial data, said Monday they bought the company from ChoicePoint Inc.
Laurence DeFranco, chief executive of iMapData, said in a statement that iMapData plans to expand its offering of Web-based applications and its library of geo-referenced tools.
Last month, Netherlands-based Reed Elsevier PLC said it planned to buy ChoicePoint, a 1997 spinoff of credit agency Equifax, in a $3.6 billion cash deal.
Shares of ChoicePoint rose 15 cents to $48.40 in morning trading.
