NEW YORK - Shares of machinery companies fell Monday, as news of JPMorgan Chase & Co.'s plans to buy Bear Stearns & Co. rocked the overall market.

Manitowoc Co., down $2.30, or 5.7 percent, to $38.14.

Terex Corp., down $3.63, or 5.5 percent, to $62.95.

Cummins Inc., down $2.40, or 4.9 percent, to $46.94.

Eaton Corp., down $2.84, or 3.5 percent, to $79.01.

Paccar Inc., down $1.89, or 4.2 percent, to $43.58.

Deere & Co., down $3.18, or 3.8 percent, to $79.70.
