WASHINGTON - Boeing Co. has won a $56.7 million contract to purchase materials, tools and test equipment for six cannon vehicles that will be part of the Army's Future Combat Systems program, the Defense Department said late Thursday.

Boeing is one of the lead contractors on Future Combat Systems, a massive Army modernization program that will use futuristic communications technology to link manned and unmanned aircraft and vehicles in real time.
Shares of Chicago-based Boeing fell $2.08, or 2.7 percent, to close at $74.22.
