LEBANON, Tenn. - CBRL Group Inc., which operates Cracker Barrel Old Country Store restaurants and gift shops, said Tuesday same-store sales rose 0.8 percent in March.

Same-store sales, or sales in restaurants open at least one year, is a key gauge of performance because it measures growth at established stores rather than newly opened ones.
For the four-week period ended March 28, there was a 3 percent higher average check, due to a 3.2 percent price increase, compared with the four-week period ended March 30, 2007, the company said.
Same-store retail sales rose 5.5 percent.
Results were helped by the timing of the Easter holiday, CBRL Group said.
