Iomai, Merck to Test Immune-Boost Patch

GAITHERSBURG, Md. - Iomai Corp., a vaccine research company, said Thursday it will conduct preclinical trials with Merck & Co. to review uses for its patch which stimulates the immune system.

The deal gives drugmaker Merck an option to negotiate an exclusive license if the patch proves viable.

Iomai said it has data from a trial showing the patch, when used with an influenza vaccine, had a clinically relevant boosting effect on elderly patients' immune systems.
