NEW YORK - Discount apparel retailer Ross Stores Inc. said Thursday that board member John W. Froman resigned in connection with his acceptance of an executive post with Sears Holdings Corp.
The resignation, which was effective Monday, reduces the size of the Ross board to eight. Ross did not announce a replacement for Froman.
Sears Holdings Corp., which owns Sears department stores and Kmart discount locations, said Thursday it hired Froman to be its president of tools and lawn and garden operations.
Froman most recently served as chief executive of Namco LLC, a regional chain of family recreation superstores, and previously was chief operating officer of Circuit City Stores Inc.
