NEW YORK - Shares of apparel makers are trading mostly higher Monday, after reports of several potential corporate deals.
A report in The Wall Street Journal says Washington Mutual is in talks with private equity firm TPG Inc. about a possible $5 billion investment.
Here's how some apparel makers performed shortly after the market's open:
Jones Apparel Group, up 8 cents to $14.01.
Polo Ralph Lauren Corp., ahead 62 cents to $61.17.
VF Corp. unchanged at $78.26.
Liz Claiborne Inc., ahead 19 cents to $19.28.
