NEW YORK (AP) - Solar-power stocks opened higher on Monday, as several reports of potential corporate deals and investments led to general market optimism.
A report in The Wall Street Journal said Washington Mutual is in talks with private equity firm TPG Inc. about a possible $5 billion investment.
A look at how some key solar stocks fared in morning trading:
Evergreen Solar Inc. rose $1.05, or 9.8 percent, to $11.74.
Solarfun Power Holdings Co. gained $1.23, or 8 percent, to $17.
China Sunergy Co. jumped 63 cents, or 6.6 percent, to $10.25.
SunPower Corp. rose $2.70, or 3 percent, to $93.10.
