US Dollar Higher in Europe

LONDON - The U.S. dollar was mostly higher against other major currencies in European trading Monday morning. Gold rose.

The euro traded at $1.5710, down from $1.5723 late Friday in New York.

Other dollar rates:

_102.61 Japanese yen, up from 102.04

_1.0130 Swiss francs, up from 1.0080

_1.0063 Canadian dollars, down from 1.0086

The British pound was quoted at $1.9869, down from $1.9916.

Gold traded in London at $914.70 per troy ounce, up from $906.30 late Friday.

In Zurich, gold traded at $914.90 bid per troy ounce, up from $905.95.

Silver opened in London at $17.77, up from $17.63.
