CHARLOTTE, Mich. - Spartan Chassis Inc., a subsidiary of Spartan Motors Inc., said Tuesday it received two subcontracts worth about $45 million for work on armored military vehicles.
The company said it will work on chassis components for the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected program. MRAP vehicles are designed to protect soldiers from mines and improvised explosive devices.
The subcontracts are through Force Protection Inc., which placed an order for 184 units, and General Dynamics Land Systems, part of General Dynamics Corp., which ordered 180 units.
Shares of Spartan Motors rose 14 cents to $8.70 in after-hours trading, after rising 18 cents, or 2.2 percent, to close at $8.56.
Shares of Ladson, S.C.-based Force Protection rose 20 cents, or 8 percent, to $2.68 in after-hours trading, after falling 3 cents to close at $2.48.
Shares of Falls Church, Va.-based General Dynamics rose 71 cents to $85.51 in after-hours trading after falling 71 cents to close at $84.80.
