Thomson to Change Name, Tickers

STAMFORD, Conn. - Thomson Corp. said Tuesday it will change its name and ticker symbols once its acquisition of Reuters Group PLC closes on April 17.

Thomson is buying its London-based news and information competitor for $16.2 billion in cash and stock. The new entity will have two parent companies, both of which will be publicly traded.

One will be based in Ontario, Canada, called Thomson Reuters Corp. Another will be a U.K. company called Thomson Reuters PLC.

Once the deal closes, Thomson Reuters Corp. shares will trade on the New York Stock Exchange and Toronto Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol "TRI." Thomson's current symbol is "TOC."

Thomson Reuters PLC American depositary shares will trade on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the symbol "TRIN."

Thomson's planned buyout has been approved by both companies' shareholders and regulators in the U.S., Europe and Canada.
