NEW YORK (AP) - Investment bank Stifel Financial Corp. dismissed its independent public accounting firm Deloitte & Touche LLP and hired Ernst & Young LLP, according to Securities and Exchange Commission filing Monday.

Stifel, based in St. Louis, said the Deloitte's report on the company's financial statements over the past two years did not contain an adverse opinion. The board approved the decision, effective April 8.
Ernst & Young will be the company's independent accounting firm for the year ending Dec. 31, 2008.
Shares of Stifel fell 18 cents to close at $42.99.
