NEW YORK - Shares of solar energy companies closed higher Wednesday after President Bush called for a cap on emissions of greenhouse gases.
Bush proposed a new target for stopping the growth of the nation's greenhouse gas emissions by 2025 and also called for putting the brakes on greenhouse gas emissions from electric power plants within 10 to 15 years.
Here is how some key solar energy companies fared.
First Solar Inc. rose $8.59, or 3 percent, to $295.91.
Trina Solar Ltd. rose $2.08, or 4.9 percent, to $44.55.
SunPower Corp. rose $5.16, or 5.5 percent, to $99.58.
Suntech Power Holdings Co. Ltd. rose $2.29, or 5.1 percent, to $47.39.
