NEW YORK (AP) - Shares of gold mining companies fell Friday as the U.S. dollar showed some strength in European trading and the price of gold fell.

Here is how some gold miners are trading:

Goldcorp Inc. fell $1.79, or 4.3 percent, to $40.47

Gold Fields Ltd. fell 19 cents to $14.77

Newmont Mining Corp. fell $1.39, or 3.1 percent, to $46.07

Barrick Gold Corp. fell $2.27, or 5 percent, to $42.90.
