TomoTherapy Inc. forecast a loss in the first quarter, and for the full year, it reduced its profit and sales outlooks to levels below Wall Street expectations.
The stock skidded $3.35, or 25.1 percent, to $10, reaching a low of $9. Since TomoTherapy's initial public offering in May, the stock had ranged between $12.50 and $27.58.
Trading volume was more than 10 times above the stock's average.
Thomas Weisel analyst Philip Legendy said the Madison, Wis., company's backlog has grown because some of its customers are installing systems more slowly. Those orders are taking more time to fill, he said. Sales in Europe were also weak.
