InterContinental Hotels Group(IHG) plans to set up more than 200 hotels in China by 2010, as Chinese people become "more richer" said Peter Gowers, CEO of IHG's Asia Pacific region.

The group with enlarge the business through its mid-range brands such as Holiday Inn and Holliday Express, aims to the growing middle class tourist consumption groups.

"IHG has 84 hotels named by 4 brands in China," Gowers explained.

Gowers said that China is a big mass market in the future and IHG's ultimate goal is to set up more than 500 hotels with the brands of Holiday Inn and Holliday Express. Now the Group has more than 3,000 hotels with the two brands, but only 51 in China, which means the Country has tremendous potential for development.

Britain's IHG together with its industry competitors such as France's Accor Group and US's Wyndham Hotel Group will in succession enter into China, as the great development of China's economy increased the demand for brand hotel service.
