The company, which makes products that let internal combustion engines run on natural gas, said it expects to post revenue of at least $290 million in 2008.

Analysts polled by Thomson Financial expect revenue of $294.5 million for the year.

Company officials said that while vehicles operating on gasoline still dominate the global market, demand for compressed natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas applications in both the transportation and industrial sectors continues to grow.

Fuel Systems also on Tuesday restated its results for 2005 and 2006 and announced a fourth-quarter profit that beat Wall Street predictions. Its shares rose $2.61, or 19 percent, to $16.67 in morning trading, after peaking at $16.84 earlier in the day.
