Tessera, which develops miniaturization technologies for the electronics industry, named Taiwan-based ChipMOS Technologies Inc., Siliconware Precision Industries Co. and others in its complaint.

A U.S. representative for Siliconware could not immediately be reached for comment Tuesday morning. A representative for ChipMOS in Taiwan also could not immediately be reached.

"More and more products that infringe our patents are outsourced for manufacturing abroad and importation into the U.S., in direct competition with our paying licensees," said Scot Griffin, senior vice president and general counsel, in a statement.

The ITC is expected to decide whether to initiate an investigation under the complaint within 30 days.
