NEW YORK - Shares of major microchip companies rose Wednesday, helped by strong earnings from communications chip makers Anadigics Inc. and Broadcom Corp.

Intel Corp., up 57 cents, or 2.6 percent, to $22.56.
Texas Instruments Inc., up 24 cents to $29.06.
Qualcomm Inc., up 34 cents to $41.89.
Advanced Micro Devices Inc., down 4 cents to $5.92.
