NEW YORK - Defense contractor L-3 Communications Holdings Inc. raised its full-year profit and sales forecast Thursday after first-quarter earnings beat Wall Street's expectations.

The company now expects a profit of $6.56 to $6.70 per share for the year, up from its earlier outlook of $6.48 to $6.62 per share. Analysts polled by Thomson Financial are predicting earnings of $6.57 per share.
L-3 forecast sales of $14.5 billion to $14.7 billion, up from its earlier outlook of $14.2 billion to $14.4 billion and above analysts' average estimates of $14.45 billion.
