NEW YORK - Shares of real estate investment trusts closed mixed Friday after a consumer sentiment reading fell to its lowest level in more than 25 years and consumers awaited tax rebate checks.
The Reuters/University of Michigan consumer sentiment index dropped to 62.6 for April from 69.5 a month earlier. It was the lowest reading since the early 1980s as Americans contended with rising energy and food prices.
Here's how some REITs performed:
Host Hotels & Resorts added 24 cents to $17.29.
Vornado Realty Trust shed 27 cents to $94.76.
Boston Properties Inc. rose 22 cents to $103.28.
Kimco Realty Corp. gained 72 cents to $42.09.
