US dollar mixed, gold lower in European morning trading

US dollar mixed in Europe

LONDON (AP) - The U.S. dollar was mixed against other major currencies in European trading Friday morning. Gold fell.

The euro traded at $1.5607, down from $1.5686 late Thursday in New York.

Other dollar rates:

--104.49 Japanese yen, down from 105.26

--1.0383 Swiss francs, up from 1.0356

--1.0171 Canadian dollars, up from 1.0139

The British pound was quoted at $1.9829, up from $1.9695

Gold traded in London at $883.50 per troy ounce, down from $891.10 late Thursday.

In Zurich, gold traded at $882.35 bid per troy ounce, down from $891.20.

Silver opened in London at $16.69, down from $16.78.
