LONDON - The U.S. dollar was lower against other major currencies in European trading Monday morning. Gold rose.
The euro traded at $1.5686, up from $1.5635 late Friday in New York.

_1.0302 Swiss francs, down from 1.0347
_1.0098 Canadian dollars, down from 1.0178
The British pound was quoted at $1.9887, up from $1.9826
Gold traded in London at $892.25 per troy ounce, up from $890.10 late Friday.
In Zurich, gold traded at $890.95 bid per troy ounce, up from $889.65.
Silver opened in London at $16.97, up from $16.82.
