MINNEAPOLIS - American Medical Systems Holdings Inc. said Tuesday its board named former Siemens AG executive Anthony P. Bihl III, as president and chief executive, effective Wednesday.
Bihl, who will also become a director, succeeds Ross Longhini, who has served as interim CEO since January. Longhini will continue to serve as American Medical Systems' executive vice president and chief operating officer.
Martin J. Emerson resigned by mutual agreement as president and CEO in January.
Previously, Bihl was CEO of the Siemens Medical Solutions Diagnostics division. He was president of Bayer Healthcare's diagnostics division before it was acquired by Siemens in 2006. Bihl has also held positions at DuPont and Sterling Diagnostic Imaging.
American Medical Systems shares gained 15 cents to $14.70 in after-hours trading, after falling 13 cents to end the regular session at $14.55.
