NEW YORK (AP) - Shares of aerospace and defense companies were mixed Tuesday, following a pattern in the broader markets, as investors appeared cautious ahead of the Federal Reserve's interest rate decision Wednesday.

Raytheon Co. fell 87 cents to $64.42.

Boeing Co. added 55 cents to $85.53.

Northrop Grumman Corp. picked up 90 cents to $74.18.

Precision Castparts Corp. shed $1.88 to $118.67.
