International Marketing/Hionis Hotels, of Concordville, Pa., and Harbor Associates have signed a letter of intent.

Company officials said the letter means they have an understanding to begin the process of building a hotel on three acres near the Center on the Riverfront on Justison Street. The site is currently used as parking for Frawley Stadium and Shipyard Shops.

Hionis Director of Operations Steve Angeline says they've been working for four years to build a hotel at the riverfront. He says the plan is a 150- to 175-room hotel.

He says construction could begin this year with the opening in 2009 or 2010.
