Praxair CEO sells 100,000 shares of common stock

NEW YORK - The chairman, president and chief executive of industrial gas maker Praxair Inc. exercised options for and then sold 100,000 shares of common stock, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing Monday.

In a Form 4 filed with the SEC, Stephen F. Angel reported he exercised the options for $23.11 Friday and sold the shares for $92 to $92.4 apiece on the same day.

Insiders file Form 4s with the SEC to report transactions in their companies' shares. Open market purchases and sales must be reported within two business days of the transaction.

Praxair is based in Danbury, Conn.
