Vectren to begin phaseout of service in western Ohio

DAYTON, Ohio - Vectren Energy Delivery of Ohio says it has received state approval to begin phasing itself out as a supplier of natural gas to its customers in western Ohio.

The utility says the process will take several years and result in a more competitive market for customers. In the meantime, Vectren says it will continue to deliver natural gas to 318,000 customers in 17 western Ohio counties.

About 30 percent of those customers have already selected another supplier through a consumer choice plan.

Vectren Energy Delivery is a subsidiary of Evansville, Ind.-based Vectren Corp.
