U.S. Airways Group Inc. reported on Monday April traffic slumped 2 percent from 5.25 billion revenue passenger miles last year to 5.14 billion.

Each passenger who has flown one mile is equal to a revenue passenger mile.
Traffic in April was affected by an earlier Easter holiday. On the report the company said its load factor or percentage of seats filled rose 0.5 percentage points to 83.2 percent from 82.7 percent.
In addition its capacity fell 2.6 percent to 6.18 billion available seat miles compared to 6.34 billion in 2007.
Recently several airlines have been acting to boost seat sales and decrease higher fuel costs by consolidating and canceling flight schedules.
Shares of U.S. Air closed at $8.32 dropping 4.49 percent and an extra 0.36 percent in after hours electronic trading on Monday.
