NEW YORK - Shares of gold mining companies opened higher Tuesday as the value of the U.S. dollar declined in European trading.
The dollar fell against the euro as markets looked ahead to rate decisions from the European Central Bank and the Bank of England later in the week.
Here is how some gold miners are trading:
Goldcorp Inc. rose 64 cents to $37.32
Gold Fields Ltd. rose 21 cents to $13.38
Newmont Mining Corp. rose 55 cents to $45.90
Barrick Gold Corp. rose 74 cents to $39.65.
