NEW YORK (AP) - Telecom service providers opened mixed Wednesday, with Sprint Nextel and Clearwire up on news the two are planning to combine their wireless broadband units to create a new, $14.55 billion wireless communications company.
Here is a look at how some key telecom stocks performed Wednesday:
AT&T Inc. fell 53 cents to $39.03.
Sprint Nextel Corp. rose 36 cents, or 3.9 percent, to $9.55.
Verizon Communications Inc. fell 52 cents to $38.37.
Qwest Communications International Inc. rose 12 cents, or 2.4 percent, to $5.08.
Clearwire Corp. rose $1.24, or 7.5 percent, to $17.70.
