US dollar up in Europe
LONDON (AP) - The U.S. dollar was higher against other major currencies in European trading Wednesday morning. Gold fell.
The euro traded at $1.5418, down from $1.5533 late Tuesday in New York.
Other dollar rates:
_105.45 Japanese yen, up from 104.71
_1.0540 Swiss francs, up from 1.0504
_1.0025 Canadian dollars, up from 1.0024
The British pound was quoted at $1.9549, down from $1.9673
Gold traded in London at $874.00 per troy ounce, down from $880.00 late Wednesday.
In Zurich, gold traded at $872.65 bid per troy ounce, down from $875.75.
Silver opened in London at $16.80, up from $16.74.
