NEW YORK (AP) - Shares of electrical equipment companies opened higher Thursday as the broader market advanced on better-than-expected April retail sales and a Labor Department report showing that unemployment benefit applications fell more than expected last week.

Jabil Circuit Inc., rose 5 cents to $10.95.
Itron Inc. rose 36 cents to $92.57.
Molex Inc. rose 9 cents to $28.62.
Regal Beloit Corp. rose 44 cents to $44.07.
