ORLANDO, Fla. - The federal government is holding the line on its prediction for a bigger Florida orange crop this season.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture released its updated forecast Friday for the 2007-08 season.
Florida's orange crop is predicted to be 169 million boxes, each of which weighs 90 pounds. That should be 31 percent higher than last season's 129 million boxes.
The nation's orange crop forecast is also unchanged.
Florida is the nation's largest orange producer and grows about three-quarters of the U.S. crop. About 90 percent of the state's fruit is used to make orange juice.
