Canadian Solar names Arthur Chien financial chief

NEW YORK - Canadian Solar Inc. said Monday it named Vice President of Finance and Secretary Arthur Chien to the post of chief financial officer, effective June 7.

Chien succeeds Bing Zhu, who is resigning as financial chief and a director of the China-based company. Zhu has held the post for three years and is resigning to pursue other interests.

Chien, a director at the company since December 2005, previously served as the managing director of Beijing Yinke Investment Consulting Co. Ltd., which provides financial consulting services.

Canadian Solar makes solar cell, solar module and custom-designed solar application products.

In after-hours trading, shares of the company declined 60 cents to $33.50. The stock ended the regular session up $1.56, or 4.8 percent, to $34.10.
