SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (AP) -Biotech drug developer Hana Biosciences said Tuesday it posted a slimmer first-quarter loss due to lower costs.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) -EchoStar Corp., a satellite TV equipment company, said Tuesday it swung to a profit of $5.7 million in the first quarter as its revenue rose 24 percent.

CARLSBAD, Calif. (AP) -ViaSat Inc., which provides satellite communication services, said Tuesday its fiscal fourth-quarter profit rose 23 percent on strong product revenue that boosted margins.

PALO ALTO, Calif. (AP) -Jazz Pharmaceuticals Inc. said Tuesday its first-quarter loss widened on higher expenses, as the company developed it fibromylagia syndrome drug and prepared to launch its treatment for obsessive compulsive disorder and social anxiety disorder.

NEW YORK (AP) -Biotechnology company Amicus Therapeutics Inc. on Tuesday reported a smaller first-quarter loss as it began to accept revenue and increased its share count.

BILLERICA, Mass. (AP) -American Science and Engineering Inc. said Tuesday its fiscal fourth-quarter earnings fell more than 50 percent as research and development costs jumped.
