Hesse faced tough questions at Sprint's annual shareholder meeting Tuesday, a day after the Overland Park, Kan.-based company said it lost more than one million of the highly valued monthly customers during the first quarter.
He told investors the company is working to improve customer service, a measure he says will slow the migration of customers to other wireless providers.
He also says the company is focusing on attracting new customers likely to spend more, but he cautioned he didn't expect significant improvement in Sprint's finances until the end of the year.
