CAW President Buzz Hargrove says both companies are willing to meet the pattern of the deal the union reached with Ford Motor Co. last month.

But Hargrove says they still have a number of small tough issues to resolve.

He hopes to have an agreement by Thursday morning.

The current contracts with GM and Chrysler run out in September and affect around 22,000 workers.

The deal with Ford keeps the company's labor costs essentially the same as they are now, the union says.
